Inspired by Hold On Change Is Coming by Sounds of Blackness, this original circular abstract painting by London artist Kate Mayer explores hope, belonging and the strength we find through connection.

The first time Kate heard the song at choir, she had arrived late on the morning after a break-up. Already feeling raw, she cried throughout the song. Yet within that difficult moment came another realisation: she was standing in a room filled with love, surrounded by the people who had become her choir family.

Painted from the memory and emotion of that experience, the work translates heartbreak, reassurance and renewed hope into expressive colour and movement. This sound-led abstract painting is a reminder that change will come, and that we do not always have to find our way through it alone.
