The Afterglow of Connection

Inspired by Tor Njamo’s vocal soundscape of the same name, The Afterglow of Connection is an original abstract painting by London artist Kate Mayer that explores the quieter, more tender feeling of being connected.

Kate painted while immersed in the sound, allowing its atmosphere, vocal tones and sense of spaciousness to guide the composition. Soft movement and subtle layers of pastel colour reflect the ease that can emerge when we feel safe, seen and understood.

Connection does not always arrive loudly. Sometimes it is found in stillness, in another person’s presence or in the quiet recognition that we are not alone. Gentle and contemplative, this sound-led abstract painting offers that feeling a lasting presence within the space it inhabits.
