The Afterglow of Awe

Inspired by The Afterglow of Awe, a vocal soundscape created by Tor Njamo for the Afterglow exhibition, this original abstract painting by London artist Kate Mayer explores the feeling of becoming fully present.

Tor’s composition brings together breath, visualisation, live voice and deep listening, creating space to slow down and reconnect with what is happening within. Kate painted while immersed in the sound, translating its layered voice and meditative energy into colour, texture and movement.

Created through a shared exploration of awe, this sound-led abstract painting brings the visual and the vocal together. The resulting work offers an invitation to pause, look more closely and reconnect with a sense of stillness, wonder and possibility.
