Total Praise

Inspired by one of the first gospel songs Kate Mayer performed with choir, Total Praise is an original abstract painting that explores music’s power to move us and create connection between strangers.

During a performance at the Festival Hall in central London, Kate noticed one man in the audience responding deeply to the choir. Seeing how visibly the music had touched him brought her to tears. It was a moment that revealed how sound can travel beyond the people creating it and awaken something deeply personal in someone else.

Kate painted from the memory and emotion of that experience, translating the power of many voices coming together into expressive colour and movement. This sound-led abstract painting celebrates the invisible exchange between performer and listener, and the moments when something felt by one person reaches and moves another.
