Shadows

Inspired by Shadows by Bonobo, this original abstract painting by London artist Kate Mayer explores the quieter emotions that can exist beneath the surface.

The track was shared with Kate by poet and Afterglow collaborator Elle Dillon-Reams as a piece of music that left her with a lasting feeling of afterglow. Its atmospheric, layered sound draws the listener into a more introspective space, where light and shadow can exist alongside one another.

Painted while fully immersed in the music, Kate translated its depth and shifting mood into colour, texture and movement. This sound-led abstract painting invites a moment of reflection and an acceptance of the contrasts within us; the light, the shadow and everything in between.
