The Power Of One

Inspired by the song of the same name by Israel Houghton, The Power of One is an original circular abstract painting by London artist Kate Mayer that explores possibility, personal agency and the courage to begin.

Kate first discovered the song through her choir. Its uplifting energy left her with a powerful sense that each of us already carries the ability to create change. We may not be able to transform everything alone, but one decision, one action or one person choosing to begin can alter what happens next.

Painted while immersed in that feeling, the work translates optimism, determination and forward movement into expressive colour and gesture. This sound-led abstract painting is an invitation to stop waiting for the perfect moment, take the first step and recognise the power already within you.
