Afterglow Collection Original Paintings

Afterglow is a collection of original circular abstract paintings by London artist Kate Mayer, created in response to music, spoken word and immersive sound. Rich in colour, movement and layered texture, each contemporary artwork captures the emotional trace of a fully felt experience: the energy, warmth and resonance that remain after the moment itself has passed.

Kate begins each painting in complete immersion, using sound to connect with the emotional state she wants to express. Through an intuitive process, tone, vibration and feeling are translated into colour, gesture and layered surfaces. The resulting works are designed not only to transform a space visually, but also to influence how it feels.

Exploring presence, connection, joy, resilience and emotional memory, the collection speaks to the experiences that continue to live within us. The circular format creates a sense of continuity and wholeness, while the layered surfaces reveal new details as the light and viewing perspective change.

At the heart of Afterglow are three collaborative paintings created in dialogue with a poet, a musician and an immersive sound practitioner. Each collaboration offers a different route into the collection’s emotional world while the painting remains the central artwork.

Created for collectors seeking meaningful contemporary art with both visual impact and emotional depth, these one-of-a-kind round abstract paintings invite the viewer to slow down, feel and reconnect. Each work is intended for a home or interior where art is chosen not only for how it looks, but for the atmosphere, energy and emotion it brings.
